The 2011/2012 school year started and with it, began the activities of the Education for Social Justice Project. On the 14th of September, the project team organized the reception of students from the Vergilio Ferreira Secondary School (Lisbon), through a dynamic group called “The Circle of Poverty.” This way, the new students of Year 7 encountered the main causes of poverty, about which what they can do to avoid it and what they can do to activate their citizenship towards themes of social justice.

At the end of the activity, also distributed to the students were various learning materials developed by IMVF about the Millennium Development Goals.

It is recalled that the Education for Social Justice Project is a challenge for primary schools in the 2nd and 3rd cycle and secondary schools wishing to support the creation of working values and promoting an active citizenship within the educational community. A networking which trains teachers and educators, and supports the work of young people and schools with the aim of projecting a sense of global social justice – from school to the world
