The water testing laboratory was inaugurated on the 30th of November on the Island of Maio, Cape Verde, as part of the Programme for Strengthening Decentralised Actors, an important step towards improving the quality of life and well-being of the local population.
According to Maio’s Mayor, Manuel Ribeiro, the existence of this bacteriological testing laboratory is extremely important, because the Autonomous Service for Water and Sanitation is better equipped to provide water with good quality to the community and have the autonomy to control the quality and perform consistently water tests, without sending it first to Praia. The mayor also stressed the investments that the City Council has made in the area of water desalination.
The ambassador of the European Union (EU) in Cape Verde, José Manuel Pinto Teixeira, also showed his satisfaction with the construction of the laboratory, saying it was an honour to inaugurate it
