Another step towards the formalisation of the Inter-municipal Network for Economic Development Cooperation has been taken: eleven Municipalities gathered on the 9th of November to analyse and improve the first draft of the statutes of the future network.

Amadora, Cascais, Loures, Maia, Marinha Grande, Moita, Odivelas, Oeiras, Palmela, Seixal and Setúbal participated in a meeting that joined the Project Networking for Development, an initiative that promotes networking and sharing of best practices and information between municipal technicians.

The meeting also allowed for the presentation of new funding initiatives to be presented, targeted at local authorities, with the beginning scheduled for the end of this year. Only a few months after the training in the Project Elaboration, provided by the Project, the technicians already shared ideas and sought partnerships for answering calls for proposals, fulfilling a major goal of the Project: networking among municipalities for Development Cooperation.

As expected, the gathering also allowed for the sharing of good practices between municipalities, highlighting the example of the City Council of Loures with the Programme for Strengthening Decentralised Actors, which aimed at strengthening local government, including the district of Água Grande in Sao Tome and Principe, and the municipality of Maio, Cape Verde, as agents of their own local development.
