The 1st Lisbon Conference on Development is held on December 3-4 at the Auditorium 2 of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. This conference is part of a project by eight Portuguese institutions, aiming at  promoting the reflection and debate about Development-related issues.

Lisbon is particularly qualified to this initiative, given its multicultural tradition and its important role on the relationship between Europe and third countries. The Conferences aim at influencing political agendas and are targeted to an audience of decision-makers and managers of public, private and multilateral institutions, members of the academia, journalists and civil society.

José Manuel Durão Barroso, President of the European Commission (2004-2014), Vuk Jeremi?, President of the 67th United Nations General Assembly, and Jorge Sampaio, President of Portugal (1996-2006) are some of the speakers. Registration is free and mandatory.
