Actions to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals through the participation of local actors: a territorial approach
Portugal (Alentejo and Algarve) and Spain (Extremadura and Andalusia)
Partnerships are not just one of the 5 Principles of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development – People, Planet, Peace, Partnerships and Prosperity – they are also the pillar of the sustainable development strategy and the foundation for ensuring a fairer, more inclusive, dignified and sustainable world.
The “Acciona ODS” project, implemented in the cross-border areas between Portugal and Spain, reflects a coherent intervention to boost smart, sustainable and inclusive growth, aimed at promoting sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11), sustainable production and consumption (SDG 12) and climate action (SDG 13).
Acciona ODS brings a cross-regional look at the SDGs, representing an opportunity to address innovative sustainable development processes with different development actors.
Municipalities of Alentejo and Algarve (technicians and municipal leaders), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and other social entities.
Global: Improve communities’ ability to achieve the goals of SDGs 11, 12 and 13 through coordinated actions by local authorities and civil society organizations.
Improve the capacities of administrations and public organizations in basic resource management (SDG11).
Increasing citizen participation and its political impact through the promotion of projects in the areas of production and consumption, implemented and managed by social entities and civil society (SDG12).
Improve the articulation of cross-border space through environmental projects promoted by social economy entities and local governments (SDG13).
This project aims to:
